Is Pretty Muddy a timed event?

Nah. If you want to race the course, then we fully support that. You can take as much time out there as you like. If you love an obstacle and want to do it again – go for it!

What are the obstacles like?

The obstacles were built with “fun” being our number one objective. Some will challenge you a little, some might challenge you a lot – but we’ll be there every step of the way to help you through it.

Do I have to do every obstacle?

Of course not.  Every obstacle will have a sign showing you around it. Only do the ones you feel comfortable doing and don’t feel bad going around a few – this is your day, do what you want to do.

Is the whole course muddy?

No… unless of course it’s raining and then… who knows (but probably not).

Do I have to crawl through mud?

No, but then how will you be Pretty Muddy?

Can I get a refund?

Sorry, no refunds under ANY circumstances.

How old do I have to be to register for Pretty Muddy?

You’ll need to be at least 14 years young by the day of the event. Like always, if you are under 18, you’ll need to have a guardian present – so bring your mom, and grandmom – they’ll both love it.

Can I register as a team?

YES! The first person from your team to register can create a “team name” that all other members of the team can then register under OR the first person can register all of the team and send out invitation via email to claim those pre-paid registrations!

Can I transfer my registration?

You can transfer your registration by logging into your Active.com account. The new participant will receive a link from you to “claim” your registration. Once they pay, your registration fee will be refunded.  All transfers MUST be made at least one week prior to the event.

Can I add a team name after registering?

Unfortunately, no. All team names must be made during the registration process.

How big can my team be?

As big as you want it to be. The more the merrier! Each wave will have approximately 200 participants – so try to fill it with friends, family and co-workers.

Are teams required?

Nope. Solo mud runners are pretty brave, but we think it’s more fun surrounded by your gal pals!

My team’s wave is full. How do I get in their wave?

If your desired team’s wave is full, register for a time that’s close. On the day of the event, find a volunteer to see if you can get permission to enter that team’s wave time.

What’s included in my entry fee?

A fun day out with your girlfriends – what more does a girl need? The event will have our challenging obstacles, an awesome post race party with live music (most likely a free drink in most markets), prizes and giveaways.  All participants will also receive a pretty sweet T-shirt!

When is the last day to register

Registration will close the Friday before the event at 6:00PM CST.

Can I register on the day of the event?

We can’t say for sure. If there are open spots available on the morning of the event, you can register on site. But why take the chance and miss out on all the fun?

What time does it start?

The event begins at 8am. We will have 200 person waves running every 15 minutes until 12pm. When you register, you are able to select your wave time (8:00am, 8:15am … 12:00pm) on the online registration form.  We ask that you arrive at the event at least 60 minutes prior to your wave time so that you can get checked-in and familiar with the venue.

Can I change my start time?

You can change your race time by going to https://www.active.com/login.cfm and entering your email address and password (if you forgot your password, you can make a new one). Then, if you click on the Pretty Muddy event, you will be able to edit any of your information (including your race time, which is located just under your gender and age on the registration form).

What should I wear?

Clothes you don’t mind getting Pretty Muddy. Pro tip: You’ll be getting wet and muddy, so wear something that doesn’t absorb a ton of water. Cotton sweat pants and shirts are not recommended… unless you’re going for the sponge look.

Can I wear a costume?

Absolutely, we’ll even be giving out prizes to the best costumes.

What should I bring with me?

Make sure you bring a signed copy of the waiver and proper, up-to-date ID (a valid driver’s license will do). You should also bring a fresh set of clothes (including shoes), a plastic bag (to put the muddy ones in), waterproof sunscreen (sunburn and mud are not a good look), and a towel to dry off.

What time should I arrive on-site?

We don’t ask for much, but we do ask that you get to the venue 60 minutes before your wave is scheduled to run. This will give you plenty of time to register (you’ll need to show your ID and give us the signed waiver you printed out when you registered), put your stuff in our guarded gear check, get the lay of the land and get warmed up.

If my friend is running late, can I check in for her?

No, because she’ll have to show her ID and turn in her signed waiver. We say: be patient and wait. This is meant to be a stress-free day, no need to worry – we’ll get you into another wave!

Will I have a place to get pretty cleaned up?

Yes! We’ll have places for you to rinse off and change.

What is Family Edition?

Family Edition is the last wave of the day that allows everyone to join in on the fun-including kids, boyfriends, husbands, neighbors, even Grandpas! These waves take place AFTER the female-only waves and are a bit later in the day.

What does the Family Edition course look like?

The Family Edition course will be around 2 miles and contain only the kid friendliest obstacles.

Is this event timed?

No. However, the course will close 1 hour after the last Family Edition wave.

Is there an age limit?

Yes & a height limit! All participants must be 6 years old and at least 48 inches tall to participate.

I’ve already paid for a female-only wave. Can I participate in the Family Edition wave too?

You betcha! If you have already paid for a female only wave you can run the family edition wave for free! *Additional participants (kids, hubbies, etc.) running with you must purchase a registration.

What do I get with my registration?

A great day out with the family, and a finisher’s medal!

How fit do I have to be?

Just a little bit fit. Some of our venues are a bit more strenuous than others. (You’ll be able to figure that out by looking at the course maps.) We recommend that you be able to walk at least three miles without a struggle – but take as long as you like! Every Pretty Muddy is a fun accomplishment!

Do you have training programs?

We don’t have formal training programs, but because we believe in the sisterhood of the mud – and we’re all in it together – feel free to ask a friend on our Facebook page (Facebook.com/PrettyMuddy) or join us for a Pretty Muddy chat on Twitter (Twitter.com/Pretty_Muddy).

What should I bring with me?

Make sure you bring proper, up-to-date ID (a valid driver’s license will do) and a fresh set of clothes, including shoes. Bring a towel to dry off and maybe one for your car on the drive home.

Can I participate with a medical condition/pregnancy?

We can’t say. You’ll need to talk to your doctor.

How many aid stations are there?

There will be at least two out on the course. If it’s really hot, we’ll add a few more. We want to make sure that everyone is well hydrated.

If I can’t participate but want to be a part of the event, what can I do?

You can volunteer. We love our Pretty Muddy Volunteers and you’ll have just as much fun volunteering as you will participating. You can sign up to volunteer here.

Can men volunteer too?

We’re looking for both men and women to volunteer to make this a Pretty Awesome event.

What is the time commitment for volunteering at a Pretty Muddy event?

We have three shifts through out the day that each last 5 hours.  We’ll have plenty of ways for you to help out at your local Pretty Muddy event. One of our Volunteer Coordinators will contact you once you sign up.

What will I receive for volunteering?

All volunteers will an awesome t-shirt and a heck of a good time.  Service hours or donations are available for groups of 5 or more, please see our volunteer page for more info!
